How we determine the fee

Our quality reports are accepted by all banks and underwriters.

The fees and services will be detailed in a written contract that you will
review and  sign before the survey
takes place.

If your sole criteria for hiring a Marine Surveyor is a cheap fee ...we fully understand ...

However ... we often have the most experience and the best equipment

which means we never have been the cheapest

so we will encourage you to please keep looking ...

Our estimates are based on a "work effort" of Seventy Five ($75) Dollars USD per hour charged
from door to door ...plus ... time for research, report writing,
and the type of equipment used for the survey
 (e.g. Infrared Thermography $150/hr  UTM $15/reading).

So when you select J.N. Allinson Associates, Inc. ...

you will be joining our many satisified customers who are pleased to say that we were ....
"Not the Cheapest" ... but the "Precision, Quality and Service was worth the difference"

The tables below give an idea of the "expected work effort" based on the Length Overall (LOA)
However ... The final fee we quote in the contract ... may be different than the guidelines
based upon the Vessel's:
  • age,
  • use (commercial/recreational),
  • location,
  • condition(ready for sale/neglected),
  • complexity of systems,
  • the level of survey you request,
  • construction material(s) ... wood/fiberglass/metal/composites
VIDEOGRAPHY

Sometimes it is not financially practical for a prospective buyer to travel to see vessel(s)
before making an offer.

For this client we offer a videography service.  The buyer can select the systems
they wish to have filmed and the resultant video with commentary is posted on our website.

After the client reviews the video they can ask questions before requesting that we
complete the survey process and provide a written report of survey.

A typical video covers three (3) systems and costs $350 USD.
The fee for videography is applied towards the cost of what the client
would be charged to complete the survey process and provide a written report of survey
